Practical Exercises for Self-Reflection and Self-Healing



The transformative Power of Self-Reflection

Dear Friends of Change,

I am delighted to welcome you to the second part of my blog series on the role of self-reflection in the healing process. In this post, I will introduce practical exercises that can help you enhance your well-being through self-reflection and self-healing.


Perceiving Your Emotions

An essential part of the healing process is perceiving your emotions. We often tend to suppress or reject negative feelings. However, this resistance only intensifies negative emotions. A crucial approach in therapy is to dissolve this resistance and rejection.


Exercise: Mindfulness for Emotions

Here is an exercise that can help you focus on the waves of your emotions and observe their decrease:

🌈 Sit comfortably: Find a quiet place and sit comfortably. Close your eyes and take a deep breath.

🌈 Observe your emotions: Take a moment to observe your current emotions. Try not to judge them, just perceive them.

🌈 Notice the intensity: Imagine your emotions as waves in the sea. Observe how they rise and fall.

🌈 Focus on the decrease: Consciously focus on the decreasing of the emotions. Recognize that every wave eventually returns to the sea.

🌈 Relaxation: Support the reduction of emotions through conscious relaxation. Breathe deeply in and out, and imagine the waves of your emotions slowly calming down.


Perceiving Emotions Behind Symptoms

Another important step is to perceive the emotions of fear and doubt behind the symptoms. The symptoms themselves may not change immediately, but changing the emotions behind the symptoms is usually quicker.


Exercise: Visualizing Hidden Emotions as a Cloud

Imagine your hidden emotions as a cloud:

☁️ Visualize the cloud: Close your eyes and imagine your negative emotions as a cloud hovering in front of you.

☁️ Give the cloud warmth: Imagine giving this cloud the warmth it needs through contentment and love, allowing it to dissolve.

☁️ Observe the change: Watch as the cloud slowly dissolves and notice how this positively affects your symptoms.
